Movies and Guns!

Oh boy, oh boy! It's only the third working day of the year and I'm booking trips for '07. This first week back to work after vacation/holidays has been pretty dull. I guess people just aren't geared up for the new year yet so things are pretty mundane. Hopefully things will pick up soon so the days will go by a little faster! ;-)

I've gotten into a good groove of "obtaining" DVD's lately. I now have well over a 150 movies on my media shelves. But I actually watched one that was pretty freaking good that I didn't think I'd enjoy too much. Wimbledon, starring Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany (the guy from A Beautiful Mind and The Da Vinci Code) was surprisingly good! As a former (though terrible) tennis player in high school, I really enjoyed all the tennis action and the story behind it. And throw in a hot chick, by golly-gosh-darn, you've got yourself a great movie! But if you're not much of a tennis fan, I don't know how much you will like it.

I've been sort of depressed lately. Being home for several days and spending all the time with friends and family that I did really makes me loathe Nashville. I just need to sit back though and just take life as it comes. But it sucks.

Today, history in America was made. For the first time in United States history, a female was elected as the Speaker Of The House Of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi took control of the powerful gavel in the house as the 110'th congress was sworn in. I personally think it's a sad day for America, but hopefully the sadness won't last anymore than two years.

So I've been looking into getting my firearm permit and they just don't make that process very easy. I think it's disgusting that as my fundamental constitutional right, I have to go through all these loops and jump all these hurtles just to carry something to protect myself, should that need ever arise. They first make you take a state-certified firearm safety course that lasts for 8 hours (around $100) before you can even apply for the state permit (that costs $115). Then, they have to do a background check on you, which is fair, I guess. After that, you have to go to a police department and be fingerprinted for their database, provide proof of citizenship, and 3 months later, they'll mail you the card. WHAT?!?!?!?!!!!???!?!? Why does something that's my fundamental and constitutional right so freaking hard to acquire? George Washington would be pissed if he had to do all of that to protect Martha, or his horse & wagon, or his HD Flat Screen TV! Stupid government. Damn liberals!

Well, that's all I've got for now. Hope you all have a great day!
